Job Seeker Ally

Job Seeker Ally is an AI-powered web application that guides neurodivergent individuals through every stage of their employment search. It offers personalized job application guidance, CV optimization, and interview preparation through virtual AI assistants, each with unique personalities and coaching approaches. The distinctive feature lies in how these assistants interpret corporate communications and job requirements. They translate complex workplace language into neurodivergent-friendly explanations and provide tailored strategies for each application.

Inspiration

The application idea was born from the shared frustration experienced by job seekers, especially neurodivergent individuals. The employment process often operates according to hidden rules and subtle communication codes that aren't immediately obvious. Many highly skilled professionals find themselves struggling in competitive markets simply because they haven't cracked these unwritten patterns. We aim to level the playing field by making these implicit expectations explicit.

What it does

Job Seeker Ally offers a suite of AI-powered tools designed around three distinct virtual coaches - Maya, Alex, and Jordan - each providing personificated guidance tailored to individual user needs. Our workflow starts with the intelligent Job Posting Analysis Engine, which decodes job descriptions to extract essential requirements, identify potential red flags, and provide salary estimates. Next, our CV Processing & Analysis feature generates match scores against specific postings and predicts likely interview stages.

Users can then utilize AI-powered content generation for tailored CV optimization, professional summary writing, and personalized cover letter development. The Virtual Interview Practice system provides real-time voice conversations with AI coaches for different interview types. The system features adaptive questioning, session recording, automatic transcription, and performance feedback

How we built it

The frontend is built with React 18 and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS for responsive design. Backend services utilize Supabase for authentication, PostgreSQL for the database, and Supabase Storage for file management. AI processing is primarily handled through OpenRouter for LLM interactions (analysis, content generation, interview questions), while ElevenLabs provides voice services for real-time conversational AI and speech-to-text. RevenueCat and Stripe integrate payment processing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Job Seeker Ally is a large and technically complex project that we managed to bring to life in just a few days. Seeing the service talk back to us through conversational AI for the first time was a powerful and rewarding moment.

Creating a seamless experience across job analysis, document optimization, and real-time voice interviews
Designing and managing multiple distinct AI personas with their own coaching styles
Successfully integrating voice synthesis and transcription into an interactive coaching loop

What we learned

bolt.new is fantastic for prototyping UX/UI, but its limits become obvious when handling complex logic, authentication, or dynamic state
Planning and structuring LLM interactions using a discuss → implement flow helps reduce confusion and improves code quality
bolt.new does not support retrieving information from the internet, which makes working with undocumented or evolving APIs more difficult
Real-time voice interactions add significant value to the user experience, but also introduce challenges around timing, fallback handling, and performance tuning

What's next for Job Seeker Ally

We see Job Seeker Ally as more than a hackathon prototype - it’s a step toward making job-seeking more accessible and supportive for everyone, especially neurodivergent individuals.

Next steps:

Improve long-term personalization and allow users to grow with their preferred AI coach
Expand the knowledge base to include more inclusive hiring practices, neurodivergent advocacy, and role-specific advice
Launch a small-scale beta to test with real users and gather feedback
