Inspiration
We were first thinking about big companies/websites and how they got popular, YouTube, Netflix, facebook, google, etc. We realized that most of them were information hubs or just a way of connecting a user to a business or service, and decided to replicate this structure. We thought about personal struggles we faced as CÉGEP students and a project we would personally use even after the hackathon and decided on the aspect of finding jobs/opportunities as a student.
What it does
Our website acts as a tool to connect students with jobs and internships that actually fit their lives. It searches through local job sites and finds offers for you based on your interests, location and the specifications and qualifications for the job. It basically works like this:
- You create a profile and log in once
- You choose parameters such as school program, interests, location and your schedule
- Our Website uses Gemini API and searches real job websites like Indeed, Jobillico or government boards and filters results to match your needs ## How we built it We first started with framing and solving the problem, we thought about the logic behind the app and its specific functions, cross verifying with each other before confirming. We had to cut multiple ideas down before arriving to a sound, complete idea. For the architecture of the website, we decided to use Gemini to search for jobs, chose Supabase for storing the data and Vultr for hosting. We used antigravity agent to help with the coding aspect of things, adding on to a basic front end and debugging. ## Challenges we ran into We had some issues with the Gemini API and many of the free trial or free credit things were difficult to claim. The integration of the agent for searches and getting the Ai to talk to the software took a lot of effort to set up as well. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of We are proud of having the Gemini Agent working and finding job sites to apply to. At the end of the day, this website is a tool we can actually use in the future. ## What we learned We learned to work with ai agents as a part of the website that can search the web and take in user input from the front end. We also learned to keep going even tho debugging is taking forever. ## What's next for Job-search There are definitely extra things we could add upon our job searching website, we could expand the searches to school or city events or even add other services such as an agent that helped build your resumes or that told you about the qualification gaps you still have.
