Inspiration
Many people in today's tech job market struggle to get accepted into a job. Part of that process includes needing to discover legitimate jobs and see how much one meets the requirements of a job. We decided to create an application to make that process a bit easier.
What it does
By uploading a resume, as a PDF, and a job posting link, we're able to give some feedback to the user. This includes a scoring of how eligible someone's resume may be with a job posting, reasoning as to why someone may or may not be a good fit, and how they can improve their resume.
How we built it
We created a server to host our program on, worked on the project's UI and code in order to analyze a resume and return a score of eligibility and how they can improve.
Challenges we ran into
We initially used Gemini for free for file and website analysis, but ran into the rate-limit so we needed to swap to 2 or 3 other AI models.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to give feedback on how why someone may or may not be a good fit for a position, and how they can better their resume.
What we learned
We learned team work, time management, and problem-solving skills.
What's next for Job Scanner
We could expand the capabilities of our program, such as it the acceptable type of files for resumes, or return results of most compatible jobs.
