About the Project
Inspiration
The job market is broken. Applicants waste hours applying to ghost listings, recycled posts, and vague roles that never reply. Recruiters, on the other hand, are drowning in low-quality submissions and have no way to build credibility. There’s no trust. No accountability. Just noise.
We created Job Mirage to fix that. Our goal is to bring clarity, accountability, and transparency into the hiring process. This is not just another job board. It's a trust-driven hiring layer that highlights real opportunities and filters out the rest.
What It Does
Recruiter Accountability
Every recruiter on Job Mirage has a public Trust Score based on:
- Response rate
- Job quality
- Feedback from applicants
Flaky behavior lowers their score. Verified and responsive recruiters gain visibility and unlock more posting privileges.
Application Control
Applicants are limited in how many jobs they can apply to each day. This creates intentionality and reduces spam. It also blocks resume-farming operations that exploit job seekers at scale.
In-Platform Messaging
All communication happens inside the platform. No unsolicited emails. No external spam. Once both sides demonstrate interest and credibility, they can choose to connect directly.
Trust Score System
Every job listing on Job Mirage includes a visible Trust Score. This gives users an instant, transparent read on how reliable a listing is before they apply.
The score is built from five key signals:
Recruiter Verification
Confirmed identity and employment history of the recruiter.AI Analysis
Automated detection of scam patterns, vague language, and reposted content.Community Trust
Feedback and ratings from verified applicants who have engaged with the listing.Freshness Score
Measures how recently the job was posted and whether it is still actively maintained.Data Integrity
Checks for salary details, metadata consistency, and completeness of the post.
Trust Scores fall into three tiers:
90 and above: High Trust
Fully verified, actively maintained listings with strong feedback.70 to 89: Medium Trust
Partially verified or missing some community feedback.Below 40: Low Trust
Unverified, outdated, or flagged for poor quality or ghosting.
These scores are visible across the platform and power a filtering system that lets users sort jobs not just by keyword, but by credibility.
Trust-Centric Interface
The platform is designed around surfacing trust signals. Every job listing displays its trust tier, freshness score, and recruiter reputation. Users can browse with confidence, knowing which posts are worth their time.
Gamified Reputation
Recruiters and applicants both earn rewards for good behavior. Recruiters with high response rates and quality posts earn badges, access to more posting slots, and priority placement. Applicants who apply intentionally and leave helpful feedback gain visibility and unlock new platform features. The system is designed to reinforce transparency and discourage low-effort interactions.
How We Built It
We used Bolt.new to build the entire project during the hackathon.
- Created a live job board UI powered by mock data
- Simulated trust scoring based on recruiter metrics and user feedback
- Built an application flow with daily limits and submission tracking
- Implemented a messaging component to simulate recruiter-applicant communication
- Designed AI-generated risk summaries and trust meters for each job post
Bolt allowed us to build quickly and focus on behavior-driven design, rather than backend complexity.
Challenges We Faced
The biggest challenge was designing a trust system that encourages honest behavior without creating unnecessary friction. We had to strike a balance between discouraging spam and maintaining a smooth experience. Working without live APIs also pushed us to simulate realistic data flows with limited input.
What We Learned
We learned that intentional constraints can drive better user behavior. Limiting applications encourages thoughtfulness. Making trust visible changes how people interact with listings. We also discovered how flexible Bolt is for building complex logic visually. We were able to implement real systems that would normally take weeks of engineering.
What's Next
- Add recruiter onboarding with verified identity checks
- Expand the trust system with recruiter history and engagement signals
- Launch a closed beta for job seekers and recruiters
- Introduce a token system to reward participation and quality
- Refine job scoring based on more community input and real-world use
