In Job Frog, you are a little frog in the big city looking to furnish and upgrade your apartment.
Unfortunately, furniture costs money, and you do not have a job. In this game, the frog (player) must simultaneously make money while decorating their apartment to become the coolest frog on the bog block by buying and selling items on the internet.
Job Frog revolves around the acquisition and spending of in-game currency Ribbucks via four core activities: buying and selling on the eBog online marketplace, furnishing the apartment, side hustling, and random events.
How to Play Job Frog
Playing the eBog Economy
The player logs onto their computer to check eBog for the latest deals on furniture and other items. In addition to item names and appearances, each item has three data values in Ribbucks (the in-game currency):
- List price: the asking price in Ribbucks that is displayed on eBog.
- Cutoff price (hidden to player): the minimum price in Ribbucks the seller will accept for their listing.
- True value (hidden to player): the actual monetary value of the item in Ribbucks. The true value of an item may be much higher or much lower than the asking price.
The player can bid for items on eBog at a price they input, at list price or lower. Whether or not the bid is accepted is determined probabilistically; as the player decreases the value of their offer, the less likely the bid is to be accepted. The primary goal of the game is to buy items low and sell them for a profit, keeping the items the player likes along the way in order to furnish their apartment.
Decorating Your Dream Apartment!
When players purchase a furniture item from eBog, they can decide to resell it or place it in their apartment, decorating to their heart's content! Certain furniture items, when placed, feature Side Hustles, which generate passive income when placed and may trigger Random Events with surprise bonuses or expenses.
Job Frog is designed for…
…two types of players:
- The “Relentless Optimizer” will focus on min-maxing their amount of Ribbucks income
- The “Cozy-Cute Gamer” cares less about optimizing, and more about obtaining their preferred furniture and furnishing their apartment

Inspirations
Job Frog was inspired by my recent experience furnishing my apartment exclusively off of Facebook marketplace. In real life, searching for deals is often both fun and challenging, just like I hope players will find it to be in Job Frog.
