Inspiration
Job hunting since 2020 has been brutal in a way that's hard to explain to people who aren't in it — the silence after applications, the identity hit of a layoff, the slow erosion of confidence. When I was in those stretches, I wanted something to talk to: not a job board, not another application tracker, just a friendly ear that understood what the search does to you. Nothing like that existed, so I built it.
What it does
Life Accomplishments Companion is a conversational companion for the hard parts of a career — the layoff, the long search, the rejection streak. Talk to it like you'd talk to a supportive friend: ask for ideas when you're stuck, a second opinion before you send something, or just a place to say the week has been rough. And it keeps the focus where it belongs: on your life accomplishments, the actual record of what you've done, so the search stops feeling like a verdict on your worth and starts feeling like a process you can get through.
How we built it
Built as a reusable skill with the Devpost package, developed in Claude and Codex — designed to be shared and picked up by anyone going through their own job search, not just a one-off demo.
Challenges we ran into
Two kinds of limits: the tools' usage limits, which forced real pauses mid-build, and my own — remembering where I left off and picking the thread back up once limits reset. Building in stops and starts taught me to make the work resumable.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
It works as a skill, not just a script — something reusable that other people can use in their own job search. That's the part I'm proudest of: it wasn't built only for me.
What we learned
A multistep skill is much harder than it looks. Every step has to hand off cleanly to the next, and when it doesn't, the troubleshooting eats your day. I came out of it with a lot more respect for the plumbing behind "simple" conversational tools.
What's next for Job Emotional Support Tool
Link it up with the Meta Quest VR app I'm building (After Hours) — so the support doesn't just live in text, but in a place you can step into.
