Inspiration
While job hunting myself, I kept running into job ads that looked promising at first glance but ended up hiding key requirements, like needing fluency in French or Dutch, even though the ad was in English. This frustration sparked the idea: why not create a tool that helps job ads clearly say what they mean?
What it does
JobAdTuner checks job ads for completeness and clarity. It gives structured feedback across key areas like language requirements, remote policies, and role details. Then it helps rewrite the ad based on user-selected improvements, keeping the original tone and format intact.
How we built it
JobAdTuner was built in one shot using Bolt and the Google AI API. Everything was build using a single structured prompt that even had the prompts for the Gemini API included, which analyse the job ad and returns a detailed JSON breakdown.
Challenges we ran into
Designing a single prompt that could handle multiple countries, languages, and tones while still producing consistent, actionable output was tricky.
What we learned
A well-designed prompt goes a long way. With the right structure and focus, you can build something powerful and user-friendly, without overcomplicating it. 90% of the work is developing the right prompt, especially for a one-shot try.
What's next for JobAdTuner
Next, I want to expand it and turn it into a tool real recruiters can use, possibly as a web app. Features like live editing, quality scoring, or a "ready to post" checklist would make it even more valuable.
JobAdTuner → make sure your job ad has all the details.
