What if an AI could just ask you a few questions and instantly hand you the perfect Toyota with real monthly payments?” That spark turned into Buyota – an AI-powered Toyota shopping assistant that feels like chatting with the world’s smartest car expert.

What it does

Buyota is a web app that turns 30 minutes of research into 30 seconds of magic. Pick your vehicle type (Sedan, SUV, Truck, Hybrid, Any) Slide your budget, credit score, and down payment Hit “Find My Toyota!” Claude 3.5 Sonnet instantly searches the web, pulls the latest 2024–2025 Toyota models, calculates real financing & lease payments based on your credit score, and returns 4–6 perfect matches with pros/cons and direct Toyota.com links. No more guessing games – just your dream Toyota, priced for your wallet.

How we built it

• React + Vite – lightning fast
• Tailwind CSS – cyber-red dealership vibes
• Framer Motion – silky animations
• Claude 3.5 Sonnet (Anthropic API) with google_search tool

Challenges we ran into

• Parsing tool_result from google_search responses
• The infamous missing <a> tag bug (twice!)
• .env not loading until dev server restart
• Making it look like a real dealership site on mobile

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Real-time web search inside an AI model
• Pixel-perfect UI that feels premium
• Built a production-ready app in 48 hours

What we learned

• Tool-use APIs are the future
• Framer Motion + Tailwind = magic
• Never commit API keys (learned the hard way!)
• Users love instant AI feedback
