Inspiration
A remote, developing region, mountainous and with limited infrastructure. Inspired by the telecommunications company's mobile emergency communications vehicle, the redesign adds clean energy to provide long-term network coverage. At the same time, drones are added as emergency response to ensure network support in case of emergency.
What it does
The use of solar base stations connected to satellites for long-term use, thus providing continuous communication services in remote areas. In the event of a disaster or infrastructure failure, backup drones equipped with communications equipment can be deployed to temporarily replace damaged base stations. These drones act as relay points and use multi-hop communication to extend the signal range, thus ensuring uninterrupted coverage.
How we built it
Small modular base stations powered by clean energy (solar and wind). To respond to emergencies, additional unmanned aerial systems have been added, equipped with satellite communications equipment or small base stations capable of hovering over affected areas to restore signal coverage.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges is optimizing the power consumption of drones while ensuring adequate communication range. The integration of multiple communication technologies for both long-range and short-range signals is another complex issue we must address.
