What it is

Jitters is an anxious little monkey who codes. In this app he lives in your hands.

Hold a palm up and he sits on it with a laptop the size of your thumb. Keep that hand still and he calms down: his screen glows green and he types. Shake, and he panics: the screen turns amber, then red, sweat flies off your fingers, and red bugs crawl out of his screen onto your hand. Flick them away with the index finger of your free hand. Pinch next to him and he gets a coffee.

A round is 60 seconds. Your score is how many of those seconds he spent calm.

Hands, end to end

There is no controller anywhere in it. Start, play, read the score, play again: every step is a pinch, a flick or just holding still. The laptop is the only light in the world, so the whole scene is the glow on him and on your palm.

Why it is fun

Your own body is the controller and the enemy. Holding still is harder than it sounds once a monkey is screaming on your hand. Every round is short, the score is one number, and the bugs make you move exactly when you must not.

Built with

The Immersive Web SDK with WebXR hand tracking on Quest, three.js for the scene, and our own 3D model of Jitters with seven moods. The sound is synthesized live in the page: key ticks at his typing rate, a heartbeat that rises with his panic, a pop per flicked bug. No assets from anyone else.

Try it

Open https://vibeoverflow.fun/hands/ in the Meta Quest browser and tap Enter VR. The same page runs flat in any browser, where the pointer stands in for your palm.

What is next

More moods from the model, a daily calm streak, and a way to hand your Jitters to a friend.
