Inspiration

Managing large-scale projects often involves tedious manual tasks, like linking related tickets or creating subtasks from descriptions. These repetitive tasks slow down productivity and can lead to errors. Inspired by this pain point, we envisioned JiraAssist AI as a tool to automate these processes, empowering teams to focus on meaningful work instead of busywork.

What it does

JiraAssist AI streamlines project management by:

Suggesting Related Tickets: Using AI, it identifies and suggests related Jira tickets based on the current ticket's description. Subtask Generation: Automatically generates subtasks from a ticket's description, breaking down work into actionable items. Enhanced Security: Ensures secure data transmission with encrypted middleware, protecting sensitive project information.

How we built it

Platform: Leveraged Atlassian Forge for seamless integration with Jira and cloud-hosted capabilities. AI Model: Used Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyze ticket descriptions and suggest relationships. Automation Logic: Designed algorithms to parse ticket descriptions and create structured subtasks. Middleware Security: Implemented encrypted communication between services to ensure data integrity and privacy.

Challenges we ran into

AI Accuracy: Training the AI to suggest truly relevant tickets required extensive dataset tuning and validation. Integration Limitations: Working within Forge's API constraints made some customizations more complex. Balancing Speed and Security: Ensuring encryption didn’t compromise app performance was a key hurdle.

Advanced Recommendations: Enhance the AI model to suggest not just related tickets but also potential dependencies or risks. Custom Subtask Templates: Allow users to define templates for subtasks tailored to their workflow. Expanded Integrations: Extend compatibility with other Atlassian tools like Confluence and Bitbucket. User Feedback Loop: Implement a feedback mechanism to improve suggestions based on user input over time. JiraAssist AI aims to continuously evolve as the go-to tool for simplifying and securing project management workflows.
