Project Features & Functionality
This Forge app allows users to add a JIRA Expenses Table to issue tickets using Atlassian Forge and React.
Key Features:
- Data Fetching: Securely retrieves table content from Jira Storage using Forge's bridge API.
- Error Handling: Gracefully handles API failures, missing data, and network issues, providing clear feedback to the user.
- Native UI: Utilizes Forge React components to maintain a native JIRA look and feel.
What I Learned from Using the Forge Platform
Working with Forge taught me how to build custom tools for JIRA in a simplified way. Forge handles authentication, permissions, and context management out of the box. The bridge API makes it easy to call Jira REST APIs from the frontend, and the provided UI kit ensures apps look native within JIRA. The tunnel tool also allows quick testing of the app directly in JIRA’s native UI.
What I’m Most Excited About Building with Forge Moving Forward
While I don't currently have a specific project idea, I now know that whenever I find myself doing something repetitive or needing custom formatting in JIRA, I can use Forge to build helpful tools.
