Inspiration

I am actively using Atlassian products as a software developer, and I am interested in extending their functionalities and customizing them.

What it does

The Gadget can be added to Jira dashboards and after searching for and choosing a city, it uses the OpenWeather API to display information about the weather there.

How I built it

The gadget was built with guidance from Atlassian's tutorial. I used Visual Studio Code for editing the code, and used the Forge CLI to build and deploy the project.

Challenges we ran into

There were some errors related to the OpenWeather API usage and to React, but they were quickly found after some debugging.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I had no previous knowledge of Forge, but I could tackle this new challenge.

What I learned

If there is a need for custom developments in an Atlassian product, I can look into Forge for integrated solutions.

What's next for Jira Dashboard Weather Gadget App

The gadget can be extended with more weather data, or multiple locations.
