Inspiration

Teams waste hours reading long Jira tickets, writing subtasks, and preparing daily standups. We wanted to make Jira intelligent with AI, so developers can focus on building, not documenting.

What it does

Jira AI Helper is a Forge app powered by Atlassian Rovo AI:

• AI Summarize: One-click summary of any Jira issue, comments and description
• Smart Subtasks: Auto-breaks a story into actionable subtasks
• Standup Writer: Generates "Yesterday, Today, Blocker" report from your assigned issues
• Comment Assistant: Suggests professional replies for Jira comments

How we built it

• Built with Atlassian Forge (Custom UI)
• Frontend: React + Forge UI Kit
• Backend: Forge Functions + Rovo AI API (Atlassian Intelligence)
• Storage: Forge Storage API for user preferences
• Deployed directly on Atlassian infrastructure (no external server)

Challenges we ran into

• Learning Forge manifest and permissions
• Getting Rovo AI to give concise, useful outputs (prompt engineering)
• Handling large issue descriptions within token limits

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Working app in under 2 days, installable on any Jira Cloud site
• 100% Forge-native, secure and scalable
• Actually saves 30+ minutes per developer daily
