Inspiration
Inspiration has come from the fact that most of the time people are not familiar with the idea to practice their speaking skills with other people because of many facts: shyness, fear, and so on. We want to make them able to improve their ability speeching with a software that doesn't judge as hard as people do
What it does
Our software offers to users a web portal in which they can interact with topics that can be created for a specific "training task". The challange is to speak while the software, at the end of the speech, points out all the issue related to grammar, form, phonetic, etc...
How we built it
Most of the work was made by integrating many different Natural Language Processing (NLP) APIs from different level of features. We focused also on programming a WebApplication developed in Java and Spring (server side) coupled to HTML5, CSS3, Javascript for the front end part.
Challenges we ran into
The challanges we face off were mainly related to integration of all the material, the hard task to make a speech report full of features, understandable at first glance for anybody
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the teamwork, spirit and effort that every member put on the project. For some of us it was the first experience in programming during an Hackathon and they particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and the mood of the event. Regarding a pure technical point of view we are very proud about the connection and interaction we achieved between elements of the application's main core. Last but not least don't forget the fabolous and magic angry Jinx's logo attached to this form!
What we learned
Regarding a theoretical perspective we improved our soft skills, in general, the overall technology knowhow. This event was also a big opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and be surrounded by the spirit to share ideas and to grow up without envy
What's next for Jinx
We strongly believe that Jinx is a really expansible application because of the modules that can be added, not only about audio analysis but also related to video features, emotion analysis, biometrical data and so forth
