Inspiration
As someone new in the world of Game development. Jigdise is our first game app which was created, for our first-ever hackathon. Being experienced with web application and open source (Github) gave us an upper hand to create something, in a team despite this covid situation. Usually in our country when we hear of the board-game the first thing that comes to our mind is Ludo or Snakes and Ladder and look what's common in both of these "dice". So we decided to go with the flow and built a game that is based upon luck and dice.
What it does
Jigdise is a multiplayer dice game that can be played by a maximum of four players at a time. Throw your dice and keep faith in your luck and surely you will win. The game is our version of the popular English poker game known as Yatzy.
How we built it
As we were quite comfortable with react and also due to the high performance of it. The game was built by using creat react-app. And since we didn't have enough time to work on the design and CSS manually we decided to use Bootstrap for most of the UI which gives us a clean and responsive Interface.
Challenges we ran into
Making the app support multiplayer as well as working on UI were some of the challenges we faced because of building the app in such a short time. I still think the UI could have been better if we got more time to work on it.
What we learned
How to handle the pressure of building something in such a short time, and how to present our application. Also, it was our first hackathon which was virtual so we got to learn how to make and present our app in a beautiful manner.
What's next for Jigdise
We would like to add a feature to share URLs to support inviting and playing with remote players. A cleaner and more better user interface, more pages with a detailed description of instructions and project.
