Inspiration
When we were moving, our parents wanted to look at many districts websites to evaluate which school has a better academic opportunities for us. When our parents were using the JFK website they were having a lot of trouble navigating certain information. We wanted to solve this problem of an inaccessible website so future parents and students will be able to navigate it well.
What it does
This website gives a brief overview of JFK High School and provides impressive information that is not included in the JFK website. Additionally, the website provides the clubs and the AP classes we offer. Finally, we added the bell, bathroom, and breakfast schedule which are not available in the JFK website.
How we built it
The program we used is replit. The two languages we used are CSS and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
We had hard time debugging due to many syntax errors. Also, had very little knowledge on how to navigate replit.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of developing a functional website using programming languages we were not familiar with. In addition, we were able to gain experience being a part of a competitive atmosphere in the computer science field.
What we learned
We learned how to program a website using HTML and CSS.
What's next for JFK High School Overview
We hope to expand the usage of the improved JFK website in our Merrick-Bellmore community.
