Inspiration
Jetride Fly was inspired by classic arcade games combined with the simplicity and excitement of modern endless runner games. We wanted to create a game that offers an engaging and challenging experience, blending elements of adventure and fast-paced action.
What it does
Jetride Fly is an endless runner game where players control a futuristic rocket navigating through various obstacles. The rocket continuously ascends, and players must avoid clouds and birds by moving left, right, up, and down. The goal is to achieve the highest score possible by surviving as long as you can.
How we built it
We built Jetride Fly using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The game features a responsive design that works seamlessly on both desktop and mobile devices. We used a combination of canvas drawing techniques and event listeners to handle user input from both keyboard and touch controls.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring smooth and responsive controls for both desktop and mobile players. Balancing the difficulty level to make the game challenging yet enjoyable was also a key challenge. Additionally, integrating graphics and ensuring they load correctly across different devices required careful handling.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a fun and engaging game that works well across multiple platforms. The seamless integration of graphics and responsive controls enhances the user experience. Additionally, we successfully implemented a scoring system and obstacle generation that keeps the game exciting and challenging. Also got ~3k plays in <1 week!
What we learned
Throughout the development of Jetride Fly, we learned a lot about game development, especially in handling responsive designs and cross-platform compatibility. We also gained valuable experience in optimizing performance and ensuring smooth gameplay across various devices.
What's next for JetRide Fly
The next steps for Jetride Fly include adding more diverse obstacles and power-ups to enhance gameplay. We plan to introduce new levels with varying themes and difficulties. Additionally, we aim to implement a global leaderboard to allow players to compete for the highest scores. Lastly, we are considering adding social sharing features to let players share their achievements with friends.
