Inspiration

Our design philosophy was inspired by Soleluxe’s product aesthetics, including their sneaker charms, bows, and accessories. The refined details, soft color palette, and cohesive styling guided our visual direction. By translating these elements into the digital experience, we created an interface that authentically reflects the brand’s identity while appealing to Gen Z users.

What it does

We designed a complete mobile app for Soleluxe that enhances the user experience of discovering and customizing sneaker accessories. The app allows users to browse products, explore curated collections, and seamlessly navigate through an intuitive shopping journey. In addition, we developed an augmented reality (AR) feature that enables users to visualize accessories on their shoes in real time, helping them make more confident and informed decisions.

How we built it

We utilized a collaborative and multidisciplinary workflow to bring the Soleluxe concept to life: Miro – Brainstorming, user journey mapping, and information architecture. Figma – Designing the visual identity, user interface, and interactive prototypes. VS Code – Developing the AR web prototype using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Blender – Modeling and rendering 3D charms for AR visualization. Web-Based AR – Implementing camera-based shoe tracking and virtual try-on functionality. This process allowed us to transform the startup’s vision into a functional and visually cohesive prototype.

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges was creating realistic 3D charms within a limited timeframe. Modeling and rendering in Blender required balancing visual fidelity with efficiency. Due to the short development period, we were unable to fully refine textures or conduct advanced depth-camera calibration.

Another challenge was building a working AR web experience. Implementing accurate shoe tracking and alignment required experimentation with scene depth technologies. While we explored LiDAR and depth-sensing capabilities, time constraints limited our ability to integrate more advanced algorithms and fine-tune precision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of delivering a functional and visually compelling prototype within a tight timeframe. Our key accomplishments include: Successfully designing a cohesive end-to-end UI/UX system for Soleluxe. Building an independent web-based AR experience in just two days. Enabling real-time shoe recognition and placement of 3D accessories. Implementing automatic detection of LiDAR and scene depth capabilities. Perfectly executing 2D accessory overlays that adhere seamlessly to shoes. Translating the startup’s brand identity into a polished digital experience.

What we learned

This project strengthened our ability to bridge design and technology. While creating high-fidelity interfaces in Figma, we applied our technical skills to implement complex AR interactions. We learned how to prioritize core functionalities, iterate efficiently under time constraints, and communicate design decisions effectively. With more time, we would refine the 3D assets, enhance depth detection accuracy, and further optimize the AR experience.

What's next for JessiSun&KyleWang_UIUX_EastvsWest2026

Looking ahead, we plan to expand this concept into a fully developed product. Future improvements include refining the AR system with more precise tracking, enhancing 3D models and textures, and developing a native mobile application. We also aim to integrate AI-powered styling recommendations and social sharing features to foster community engagement.
