Inspiration

We the team of Cypher inspired to create this website after witnessing the struggles of children in our community who couldn't afford educational resources and we knew we wanted to make a difference. and that's why we decided to create a free, online platform that would provide these children with the same learning opportunities as their more fortunate peers.

What it does

Our website provides a lifeline of free, online education to underprivileged children. By offering engaging videos, quizzes, and downloadable materials, all accessible from anywhere with an internet connection, it removes the financial barriers that often hinder their learning. Aligned with the local curriculum, the website supplements their schoolwork while keeping them motivated through interactive features. This goes beyond academics by offering life skills modules and potentially connecting students with mentors, empowering them with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.

How we built it

We brought Jengo to life using a powerful technology stack. Next.js, a framework built on React, provided a robust foundation for building a dynamic and user-friendly web application. For data storage, we opted for MongoDB, a flexible NoSQL database that allows us to easily scale and adapt as our user base grows. Finally, Vercel serves as our reliable hosting platform, ensuring Jengo's constant availability and smooth performance. We secured our custom domain name through GoDaddy, solidifying Jengo's unique online presence.

Challenges we ran into

Building our free educational website wasn't without its challenges. Securing resources like website hosting proved difficult at times. While doing the backend we faced major technical issues but at last, we solved all our backend problems, also while making the website dynamic we faced some problems we couldn't upload our educational videos but after a lot of struggle we made it possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, our website has become a beacon of opportunity for underprivileged children. By leveraging free education, we created a platform that's accessible to everyone. The engaging content, aligned with the local curriculum, keeps students motivated and reinforces their classroom learning. This free resource empowers them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, and that's a truly remarkable accomplishment.

What we learned

While we were creating the website we learned a lot of things such as teamwork, Our website is complete because of our teamwork we divided tasks between the three of us and if one of us got into a problem other could help him out also while researching for Jengo we came across many such unprivileged children who were unable to study for other financial condition. We saw the poor situation of the children in Africa They don't have food to eat, water to drink, clothes to wear, and resources to study and grow. So we came up with our project Idea and became very determined to perform this project not only for the hackathon we decided to even work on it in the future.

What's next for Jengo

Jengo's journey is far from over. We're constantly striving to expand our educational offerings, with plans to incorporate new subjects and grade levels. More interactive activities and even live sessions are on the horizon to keep students engaged. Reaching a wider audience is a priority, and partnerships with NGOs and multilingual support are key initiatives. To ensure long-term sustainability, we'll explore fundraising avenues and build a network of passionate volunteers. Most importantly, Jengo will prioritize measuring its impact, showcasing success stories, and fostering opportunities for our students. Jengo's future is bright, and we're committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
