The Idea

Let’s say that your best friend paid for frozen yogurt last night. You want to show your appreciation and somehow return the favor. Do you venmo them for half the bill? Could there be an exchange of value other than through money? How about you walk their dogs this weekend or buy them their favorite drink at Starbucks tomorrow? Let’s use these opportunities to grow your relationship, create good memories, and return the favor for a friend! It all starts with something small and sweet - introducing jellybeanz!

Inspiration

As college students, we hang out with close friends and lots of different people throughout our time. Needing to figure out finances after a hangout is always a pain. It can be stressful to sort out money and it’s often left unresolved. Thus, we came up with a new and fun idea!

How we built it

We started with a strong ideation session. We brainstormed many ideas and started to narrow down our interests. Once we found the idea that we were passionate about, we drew sketches on notes and basic wireframes on a whiteboard. We then moved sketches to Figma to create cleaner and more detailed wireframes. Meanwhile, our developer started the development in Xcode.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the two days, we faced multiple challenges. First, we found that coming up with the idea was more difficult than you would imagine. We considered many ideas but had to narrow down to something more specific. Additionally, materializing our ideas into smaller features was harder than we thought. We learned to prioritize features and make user stories to help us identify what needed to be in the MVP. We found that the biggest challenge was balancing ambition and creativity with the limited time and resources.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Through this hackathon, we learned to take ideas and turn them into something real. Our visions of this app became real wireframes we could design and critique. Our many features we wanted to include slowly started working on the iPhone simulator.
