Inspiration

The core inspiration for "Jelly Boy" is profoundly personal, beginning with a simple, genuine question from my son: "Dad, can boys like slime and jelly?"

This sparked the idea of creating a song about a boy or man who simply loves jelly, challenging rigid, unspoken societal rules about gendered interests. We then decided to visualize this story using a K-Pop idol-like group. The goal was to use the global influence and gender-fluid aesthetics of K-Pop to freely break the boundaries between boys and girls, encouraging children to interact and express themselves without conventional limits.

What it does

"Jelly Boy" is a high-energy, Hyper-Pop K-Pop MV that visually chronicles the protagonist's journey of self-discovery. It uses exaggerated visuals and AI-generated character design to contrast external societal expectations with the unique, joyful inner world found in 'jelly.' This visual project pushes the boundary of AI-generated character design and narrative, translating an intimate question into a universally relatable visual spectacle.

How we built it

The visual pipeline utilized a combination of specialized AI tools:

Base Imagery & Concepts: Initial characters and key visual concepts were generated using Midjourney AI and NANO BANANA AI.

Animation Generation: The complex, fluid character animation and visual transitions were processed using HAILUOA AI and VEO3.

Integration: The final cut, sound synchronization, and editing were completed in CapCut.

This multi-tool approach ensured we achieved both high-quality base imagery and dynamic, flowing visual output, staying true to the 'jelly' and 'fluid' concept.

Challenges we ran into

The primary challenge was managing the workflow and visual consistency across four different AI platforms (Midjourney, NANO BANANA AI, HAILUOA AI, VEO3) while maintaining the fast, energetic rhythm of the Hyper-Pop K-Pop genre. We focused heavily on ensuring the final output felt seamless and deliberate, not fragmented.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully translated a sensitive and personal theme (questioning gender norms) into a universally appealing, high-energy music video.

The work demonstrates a strong command over multiple AI video generation platforms, leveraging the unique strengths of each tool (image quality, animation flow).

What we learned

We learned that building a successful visual narrative from scratch using multiple specialized AI tools requires extreme precision in prompt engineering and a dedicated integration phase to resolve inter-tool inconsistencies. This process confirmed the necessity of human artistic direction to unify disparate AI outputs.

What's next for Jelly Boy

The project will continue to be leveraged to explore broader distribution channels and further solidify its standing as a benchmark for high-quality, conceptual AI-driven character and visual storytelling.
