Inspiration
Our inspiration comes from the silent struggle of thousands of Thalassemia patients and their families across India. We were deeply moved by the dedication of organizations like Blood Warriors and the constant, high-stress reality families face: a desperate, last-minute search for blood every few weeks. The system felt perpetually reactive, a series of emergencies rather than a stable support structure. This led us to ask a fundamental question: What if we could use technology to move from panic to predictability? What if we could build an accessible web platform that anticipates needs and provides a reliable lifeline?
What it does
Jeevan-Setu is an AI-powered mobile ecosystem designed to revolutionize the blood donation process for Thalassemia patients. Proactive Matching: Instead of patients posting urgent requests, our AI engine predicts future blood needs based on transfusion schedules and simultaneously predicts donor availability using patterns in their donation history, location, and responsiveness. Builds "Warrior Pods": It creates small, dedicated communities of local donors for specific patients or hospitals. This transforms anonymous donation into a personal, community-driven act. Engages and Retains Donors: The platform uses gamification—badges, impact tracking ("You've saved 6 lives!"), and community recognition—to celebrate donors as heroes and encourage them to donate regularly. Empowers with Information: An integrated AI chatbot provides patients and their families with instant, 24/7 access to medically verified information about Thalassemia management, diet, and care.
How we built it
Of course. Here is the revised project story, updated to accurately reflect that you built a web-based prototype using Flutter for Chrome.

How we built it
We designed Jeevan-Setu as a first web-platform using a modern, scalable tech stack, allowing for rapid development and future expansion to mobile. Frontend: We used Flutter Web to build a responsive, single-page application that runs directly in a browser like Chrome. This allows us to deliver a rich user experience without requiring any installation. Backend : For this hackathon, we built a mock server using standard Python. This server simulates API responses and provides realistic data to the frontend, allowing us to demonstrate the complete user journey. Conceptual AI Engine: The core of the full platform concept is a Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model. In this prototype, its logic is simulated by the mock backend. Conceptual Database: While the full version would use PostgreSQL and Firebase, our prototype uses hardcoded data within the Python server for demonstration purposes.
Challenges we ran into
Data Acquisition: The effectiveness of our predictive AI model is entirely dependent on having access to clean, structured, and anonymized historical data on donor behavior, which is a significant challenge to acquire initially. The "Last Mile" Problem: Our technology can find and motivate a committed donor, but it cannot guarantee their physical presence at the blood bank. This requires a strong human element from Blood Warriors coordinators, which our platform is designed to support, not replace. Data Privacy: Handling Protected Health Information (PHI) is a massive ethical and legal responsibility. We had to design the system from the ground up with data privacy and security as a non-negotiable priority.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A Paradigm Shift in Thinking: We are most proud of shifting the concept from a simple "donor search" app to an intelligent "human supply chain management" platform. This proactive approach is the core innovation of Jeevan-Setu. A Human-Centered Design: We successfully designed two distinct, empathetic user journeys: a reassuring and simple experience for patients, and an engaging, rewarding experience for donors. A Practical Application of AI: We conceptualized an AI system that solves a real-world problem—donor fatigue and inefficient communication—in a tangible way, proving that AI can be a powerful tool for social good.
What we learned
The most important lesson was that the solution to a recurring human need is not just technology, but community. A donor who feels valued, recognized, and connected to a personal story is infinitely more likely to return than one who responds to an anonymous alert. We also learned the immense importance of designing for trust and privacy, especially when dealing with vulnerable communities.
What's next for Jeevan-Setu
Our vision for Jeevan-Setu extends far beyond this hackathon. Our roadmap is phased for sustainable growth: Phase 1 (Next 3 Months): Deploy the current Flutter Web prototype to a live URL. Transition from the mock server to a real backend with a database and begin building the V1 of the AI predictive model. We will launch a pilot program with a small group from Blood Warriors in Secunderabad. Phase 2 (Next 6 Months): Refine the AI model based on pilot data and enhance the web platform with the full gamification features and the AI educational chatbot. Phase 3 (1 Year and Beyond): Leverage the power of Flutter by compiling the exact same codebase into native Android and iOS mobile apps. This will allow us to provide a multi-platform experience and reach a wider audience without rebuilding the app from scratch.
