We went into this hackathon with two goals in mind: having fun and getting more experience programming. These are why we decided to make a game in Unity, it’s a language that Jay has experience with but Connor doesn’t, so we knew that we could learn while still being able to make something in the limited time and collaborate on it. In this time, Connor learned much about the workings of Unity and C# and we both learned better how to make use of Unity’s current Version Control system. We worked on separate parts of the project, coordinating what was needed in order of importance and combining our work regularly in a system that, while being incredibly simple and convenient to use, required learning Unity’s new Version Control system which took a lot of setup. We chose the specific project that we did because we thought that it’d be fun to work with Unity’s lighting system and we enjoy the 2d pixel art style.
