Inspiration

Students often spend a lot of time searching for study materials, preparing notes, creating practice questions, and planning their study schedules. We wanted to create a simple platform that brings these study activities together in one place.

What We Built

Student Study Assistant is a web-based study assistant designed to help students learn more effectively. Students can enter a topic and use the assistant to get learning support.

The project provides four main features:

Ask Assistant – Get an explanation about a topic.
Generate Notes – Create structured study notes.
Generate Quiz – Practice with multiple-choice questions.
Study Plan – Create a 5-session study plan for a topic.

The project also includes a student login feature.

How We Built It

The frontend was developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The backend was developed using Java and Spring Boot. The frontend communicates with the backend through REST API endpoints.

The basic workflow is:

Student → Web Interface → JavaScript → Spring Boot REST API → Study Assistant Service → Response

Challenges We Faced

One of the main challenges was connecting the frontend with the backend correctly. We had issues with API endpoints, HTTP methods, and backend communication.

We solved these issues by creating matching REST API endpoints and connecting them with the JavaScript frontend.

Another challenge was organizing different features such as notes, quizzes, and study plans into separate backend functions.

What We Learned

Through this project, we learned how to:

Build a web-based student application.
Connect a frontend with a Java Spring Boot backend.
Create and use REST APIs.
Handle requests and responses using JavaScript.
Organize backend services and controllers.
Design a simple and user-friendly study interface.
