Inspiration
We have all used My SSP before and saw an opportunity for further growth. Additionally, as first years, starting at a new university and the impact of COVID-19 on our experiences have been tough, as it has also been for many others. There have been constraints to meeting others, receiving clarification or support, confusion about the transition between high school to university (new clubs, classes, workload, ect.) and finding somewhere/someone who can help us with issues, especially since many things are virtual. Luckily through clubs, programs, and events, we have been able to meet like-minded individuals or mentors who encourage us, give us advice and support in the things we do. Additionally, we have realized in the past year how many others around us are also struggling but were never able to express it until they felt comfortable enough after receiving help from either friends, counsellors, teachers or therapists. So we decided to create a feature where others could receive daily reminders about their health.
What it does
Re-Mind is an app that promotes self-care and self-reflection by sending inspirational daily quotes and weekly challenges.
How we built it
We used C++ in Replit to easily share code with other team members. We created different functions for the different features we wanted to implement in the app.
Challenges we ran into
Understanding the instructions and choosing what are project was going to consist of. The time-frame of 24 hours was also difficult to manage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our detailed decision making when creating our project. It was also our first using some of those new platforms. For some of the group members, it was their first Hackathon.
What we learned
We learned to prioritize certain sections of the project, since we had limited time. It is important to take needed breaks even though we wanted to continue the project.
What's next for JARY Consulting
To continue competing in Hackathon and learning as well as getting exposed to new problems to solve.
