About Jarvis: The AI Shopping Negotiator Have you ever spent hours hunting online for the best possible deal, endlessly comparing prices, wondering if you’re really getting the best offer out there? We certainly have—and after countless late nights and frustrating shopping sessions, we knew something had to change.

Jarvis was born from a simple yet powerful idea: Why not let artificial intelligence do the bargaining for you? We set out to create a shopping assistant that not only finds the best prices instantly, but actually negotiates in real-time, just like a human would—taking away all the stress and guesswork.

Inspiration Behind the Project It all started when we realized how uneven the online shopping experience had become. Big brands have sophisticated tools to adjust prices dynamically, yet everyday shoppers like us are stuck accepting whatever price we find online. We imagined a fairer system: one where every shopper has their own personal negotiator fighting to get them the best deal possible. This vision inspired Jarvis—a tool that empowers everyone, regardless of time or skills, to shop smarter and save more.

How We Built Jarvis Our goal was ambitious, but we knew exactly what tools we needed to bring Jarvis to life:

Frontend: Next.js 14, Tailwind CSS, and Framer Motion for a clean, modern, and intuitive user experience.

Authentication & Database: Clerk for simple, secure login and Supabase for fast, reliable data storage.

AI Core: OpenAI GPT-4o to handle intelligent conversations and negotiations naturally.

Simulated Negotiations: ScraperAPI and mock JSON datasets helped us realistically demonstrate the negotiation process without real-market API limitations.

Dynamic Voice & Video Summaries: ElevenLabs and Tavus provided instant personalized media, making each transaction memorable.

Blockchain Transparency: Algorand TestNet integrated through Nodely.io allowed us to mint NFT receipts for every transaction, adding unmatched transparency and trust.

Our Biggest Challenges Creating Jarvis was exciting, but also genuinely tough. Real-time integrations with marketplaces like eBay and Amazon brought significant technical obstacles—like restrictive APIs, CAPTCHAs, and anti-bot measures—that forced us to creatively rethink our entire negotiation strategy. We decided to openly embrace this limitation for now, clearly stating our mock-demo approach while laying out a clear path for future integrations.

Another challenge was synchronizing numerous complex components—from searching and bargaining to automated checkouts, personalized media, and blockchain logs—in a smooth, believable demo experience. Making this work flawlessly was tricky, but immensely rewarding.

What We Learned Building Jarvis taught us more than just technical skills—it showed us the importance of empathy in technology. Understanding the frustration of real shoppers allowed us to design a solution that doesn’t just save money, but truly eases a daily pain point. We learned to balance ambitious technology with a real human touch, keeping user experience at the heart of every decision we made.

What's Next for Jarvis Jarvis is just beginning. Our future roadmap includes seamless OAuth integrations with popular marketplaces, more advanced negotiation strategies powered by user behavior insights, and convenient browser plugins to automatically track wishlists and price changes.
