Jammory

I built Jammory because I know how difficult it can be for musicians to find their place in a new city.

As a trumpet player, I have experienced how important the local music community is. Finding jam sessions, meeting other musicians, discovering the right venues, and understanding a new music scene can often depend on luck or personal connections.

Jammory is an interactive prototype that helps musicians discover jam sessions, connect with other players, and explore music communities around the world. It combines city guides, musician profiles, jam session discovery, and an AI Music Coach that helps musicians prepare for entering a new scene.

Inspiration

The idea came from a real problem: moving to a new city as a musician can feel isolating. A city may have an incredible music scene, but finding the right rooms and people is not always easy.

I wanted to create something that feels like a trusted friend showing you where to go, who to meet, and how to start becoming part of the community.

How I built it

I used Codex throughout the development process to turn the idea into a working product.

Codex helped me build the interface, create pages, debug issues, improve the structure of the application, and iterate faster while developing the prototype.

GPT-5.6 helped me think through the product concept, user experience, feature ideas, and the AI Coach interactions.

The project was built as a React/Vite web application with a focus on a premium, music-focused experience.

Challenges

The biggest challenge was building a complete product experience without a traditional programming background.

I had to learn how different parts of a web application work together, make design decisions, debug technical issues, and balance ambition with the limited time of a hackathon.

Another challenge was creating a realistic experience while being transparent that the current version is a prototype. The musicians, events, and recommendations are curated demo data designed to demonstrate the concept.

What I learned

This project taught me that a strong product idea starts with understanding a real human problem.

I learned how to use AI tools not just for generating code, but as a creative and technical partner during the entire building process.

Jammory is currently a prototype, but the goal is to eventually connect musicians with real communities, events, and collaborations around the world.
