The Jamchain Vision
The music industry has deteriorated into a painful space for smaller musicians. Although the modern internet has created an environment where anyone can post their material and be discovered, the artists still rely on labels and digital streaming platforms (DSPs) for revenue. Additionally, with the advent of social media and other distracting technologies, the real world has become more isolating. As a musician myself, I have found it difficult to go out and find someone to collaborate with even though it would seem that we are more connected than ever. Jamchain seeks to create a vibrant, collaborative online environment where artists can create together, pay each other directly, license small pieces or entire songs, perform live, solicit the missing piece of their song or art piece, and make tips directly from their fans or just people who stumble across their performance. Transactions throughout the application would use a Jamchain token as the currency. NFTs and smart contracts have created a space where artists can take control over their creations and get paid peer-to-peer and by their audiences directly.
Status
Development has not begun for the project. Seeking developers with front or backend experience. Would love to hear from artists who would use the application about what features they would like to see. I am one person currently with significant experience in Python, but not in software engineering. Solana is the perfect platform for this idea to take flight.
