Inspiration
The future of social media is exciting and people are always trying to make it more indicative of real time updates, people want social media to reflect a real part of their lives. We wanted to include a part of peoples lives that everybody can relate to: Music. So our idea was to create a real time music social media.
What it does
Our project allows people to share their daily discography and see what their friends have been listening to throughout the day. When you are on spotify you have the option to post the song to your daily discography on jam chat, and your friends can see these posts. There are also live updates which tell you what your friends are currently listening to, if they are listening.
How we built it
We had 1 person who worked the backend, setup mongoDB and flask, and 2 of us worked on learning react and working on developing the website, We had to learn React, and used the frame work material UI We used: react for our front end development, with the material UI framework. Our backend included: OAuth, MongoDB, Flask, Spotify API
Challenges we ran into
Couldn’t figure out how to use react to create a scrolling system, and wanted the horizontal scroll bar through one users discography. Difficult to learn react and javsascript within 2 days, for people who haven’t done web development.

What we learned
We learnt how to use React and how to efficiently learn how to build software, as it is very time consuming to build a web application. We also learnt how to split up tasks and merge them altogether.
