Quick Description

We created a Google Chrome Extension, JailR, that uses the Jailbase API to search for the criminal records of anyone you encounter on the internet (Granted they live in the US that is, for now.).

Ideal User

The ideal user is someone who uses the internet quite frequently, specifically sites where you meet people or exchange goods. Need a Music Teacher for your kid and plan on using Craigslist? Do quick background checks to see if they have a past. Picking up a couch from John Doe? With JailR, you now know he has been arrested for armed robbery and assault. Keep yourself, and those you know, safe from those you meet on the internet.

Another fun use is checking your facebook friends, and arrests in your area.

Key Features

Some Key Features we came up with include: * Highlight Searching (Type in a name, or highlight a name on the internet to do a quick search) * Right-Click Searching. Right click a Facebook Name, Google Name, or profile on just about any site to do a search. * Double check the Name. Allow users to fix spelling errors, and remove nicknames when searching * Mugshots. People can share names, so having Mugshots lets you identify who exactly you are looking at. * Offense, Booking Date, and Location. Allows you to see what they did, where they were booked, and when they were booked. * Completely Free. We use an IP based API. Since it runs in your browser, we have no need for an exchange of money, making the tool completely free.

We also plan on adding additional features after the hackathon, such as automatically doing a check of those you are looking at on sites such as facebook, and displaying their information on the side. * Automatic checking of profiles you are on. * Batch Check of all facebook friends * Updates when a Facebook friend is booked (Useful for helping those who need bail) * Updates when someone in your area is arrested
