Inspiration
JAC was inspired by the all-too-common experience of diving into a new hobby, only to be left with unused equipment and a twinge of regret. We recognized the need for a platform that not only facilitates the buying and selling of hobby equipment but also fosters a community where like-minded enthusiasts can connect, share, and learn together.
What it does
JAC serves as a dual-purpose platform: a marketplace and a community hub. It allows users to sell gently used hobby equipment or purchase what they need to start a new hobby. Beyond transactions, JAC is a place where users can join forums, exchange tips, share experiences, and even organize meetups, transforming the solo journey of a hobby into a shared adventure.
How we built it
JAC was built as a web-based platform using Python, Flask, React.js, HTML, CSS and Git. We focused on creating an intuitive user interface that makes navigation seamless. The backend infrastructure supports a login, explore page, database and marketplace demo. Community features were integrated to allow for forums and user communication.
