Inspiration
Pilgrims from all over the world convene in Mecca to perform Hajj. During their journey they need many paid services. Those who carry their money with them are prone to losing it due to congestion. Some of them have issues with payment and want a simplest way to pay for food, transportation and other services. Others want to make payments without using banknotes but do not have credit cards.
What it does
Hajj Wallet is a contactless payment method that allows pilgrims to pay money without having cash or a credit card, just with their mobile phones via the NFC technology. It is fast, simple and secure. To use Hajj Wallet create an account, recharge it via a telecommunication company and you have nothing left just tap and pay.
How we built it
We adopted a REST architecture. Our web service is the link between the database and the client application and it is the responsible of all transactions. The application security is based on Tokens Service Provider. The API is built with Java EE and the client side with android.
Challenges we ran into
Hajj Wallet will be a payment institution and recharging the account needs partnership with a telecommunication company. Actually, we are making sure if this is possible in Saudi Arabia.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
So far, we developed the idea based on the mentors advices, we defined the user workflow, worked on the user experience and the mobile app design. Currently, we are working on the application design and security.
What we learned
We are a group of moroccan and saoudi developers, designers and marketers. Meeting different cultures and experiences allowed us to enjoy working together.
What's next for J-49-HajjWallet
The main challenge in finance security, HajjWallet will be working to improve. We will be also working on watches and IOS devices. In long term we plan to implement the solution in other countries.
