Inspiration

As young undergraduate students, sometimes we have been in need of getting a job that does not require of graduating college, such as waiters, baby-sitting, personal assistants, cleaning services, musicians, painters, tutoring teachers, etc, but the problem is that this job offers can't be found easily on LinkedIn or other similar social medias, that's why we want to build a social media that satisfies this necessity for informal job offers that doesn't requiere of being under a contract by law.

What it does

As an employee, this App allows you to find job offers published by employers that can be filtered by categories. As an employer (business owner or just a person in need of assistance), iWork allows you to find employees in the desired categories of your choice.

How we built it

To develop the following app, we used Flutter, a framework that allows you to build native applications that can be rendered in iOS, Android and Web environments.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was our few experience using flutter and mainly in the design Area of the project, we spent mucho of our time making our app functionally correct, rather than improving the design and style of the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're very proud as a team that our app is functioning correctly even when we only had worked once with Flutter in our previous experiences and we are submitting the project in time.

What we learned

We learned that we should strengthen our time management and our design abilities definitely, we should continue improving as a team mainly in this two areas and we definitely could have optimized much better our code and our classes management mainly.

What's next for iWork

We definitely believe that iWork can be a great opportunity to feed the growing economy and development of countries like ours, Mexico. This is why we believe we can definitely keep developing this app. Our next steps, ordered from the shorter to longer term time lapse are:

  1. Improve functionality
  2. Improve the design area of the project
  3. Get more developers involved in the project improve it
  4. Implement the project with a cloud service
  5. Continue taking this project and idea to competitions and pitching this idea
  6. Hopefully getting investors or getting funds to make this project a real business
