Inspiration

We were inspired by social media platforms that allow people to connect, share, and build meaningful communities. Our goal was to create a similar space—but exclusively for IVC students. We wanted to help students feel more connected to their peers through a secure and friendly platform. For the login system and access management, we took inspiration from MySite, ensuring that only students with valid IVC credentials could join

What it does

iVConnect provides a private online space for IVC students to connect with one another using their student ID and IVC email. The platform makes it easier for students to find and join study groups, ask questions, and explore on-campus clubs and communities. It’s more than just a network—it’s a student hub built to support connection, collaboration, and success.

How we built it

We divided the work into sections and tackled each part step by step. From designing the layout and styling, to creating the homepage and additional pages, each team member took responsibility for different components. We collaborated closely throughout the process, sharing ideas and solving problems together as we built the project from the ground up.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was not having prior experience with HTML and web development. We had to learn the basics as we went, which made the process both exciting and overwhelming at times.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of how well we worked as a team. Even though most of us were learning web development for the first time, we supported each other, shared resources, and made sure everyone had a part in building the final project. Creating something functional together felt like a big win.

What we learned

We learned the fundamentals of HTML and basic web design by watching YouTube tutorials and exploring resources shared in the Discord group and workshop links. Along the way, we also gained teamwork and communication skills that were just as valuable as the technical ones.

What's next for IVConnect

We plan to expand iVConnect by adding more features, such as club links, event announcements, and the ability for users to post photos of their accomplishments or activities. We also want to include a Q&A section where students can ask for help and get answers from peers. Our goal is to continue building a supportive, resource-rich environment for the IVC student community.
