IVC Grow

We're creating an app just for IVC students to make studying easier and help them stay motivated. It’ll also have a space where students can chat, share tips, and exchange resources for IVC classes.

Inspiration

As students at IVC, we realized that staying motivated while studying can be really tough especially without a strong support system. We wanted to create something that helps students feel more connected and supported while they work through their classes. That’s how the idea for IVC Grow was born: a space where students can stay on track and grow together.

What it does

IVC Grow is a study companion app designed specifically for IVC students. It helps students stay motivated with features like study timers and reminders, and also includes a chat space where they can share study tips, resources, and class advice with each other.

How we built it

We built the app using Unity and Visual Studio, combining functionality with a clean user interface. CSS was used to design the layout and make it visually appealing. We focused on making the experience simple and helpful for students, with plans to keep building out more community-focused features.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to make the app helpful without overwhelming users with too many features. We also had to learn how to bring different tools together, like Unity and CSS, to ensure everything worked smoothly. It took a lot of trial and error, but we pushed through it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we created something from scratch that could actually help our fellow students. Just being able to turn our idea into something real and usable was super exciting. Also, learning how to use Unity for an actual application felt like a big step forward.

What we learned

We learned a lot about app design, teamwork, and the technical side of building a functional product. We also learned how important it is to focus on the user’s experience and make something that solves a real problem.

What's next for IVC Grow

We want to add more community features like course-specific resource boards, personalized study goals, and maybe even a buddy system for accountability. Our goal is to keep growing IVC Grow into a tool that supports students both academically and emotionally throughout the semester.
