Inspiration

Inspired by url shorteners and I wondered how can I also do that!

What it does

It converts long URLs into short and shareable URL.

Challenges we ran into

Whether to use randomized strings or ID-based URL. Randomized strings will have us let to read through all to check if there's a duplication. ID-based URL will let users access previous shortened URLs that might not be intended to access.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made it hashed IDs so it is surely very small percentage of duplication. We also used rate limits to understand how developers make sure database or the app don't breakdown if there are many users or a brute-force.

What we learned

This is mainly for backend, and I learned that a good backend will make the frontend easy.
