Inspiration
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
What it does
In a nutshell, iTransmit is a community-powered virus outbreak area identifier that is based on voluntarily sent anonymous reports from the users.
How I built it
I've been using Flutter as the frontend technology to build the cross-platform, native application. As a backend, I chose Firebase since it is simple and potentially it can handle a global-level workload.
Challenges I ran into
Choosing the right libraries was often a difficult question. For example flutter_background_geolocation requires a paid license. Should I pay for it or put it together by myself?
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm particularly proud of the design, I think it is as clean as possible and focuses on the content. Of course, the greatest accomplishment would be if it could save someone.
What I learned
I didn't know how to make curved designs before, so I had to learn it. Supporting multiple languages was also a challenge for me.
What's next for iTransmit
Publishing on Google Play and Apple Appstore.
