About the Project
Inspiration
Our inspiration came from our experience at HackHarvard.
Traveling all the way from Spain was more than just a trip — it was a cultural and emotional journey. We wanted to capture that feeling and find a way to preserve memories in real objects, which led us to create Item2Art.
Just like a mathematical transformation:
$$ f(\text{memory}) \rightarrow \text{living object} $$
our project turns personal experiences into something tangible.
What We Built
Item2Art lets anyone save memories and culture in real objects using NFC technology.
You write a short story or description of an experience and choose how it should come alive:
- 🎵 Music — generated with Suno API
- 🖼️ Image — created through Gemini AI
- 💬 Voice Conversation — interactive and spoken using ElevenLabs and Gemini
We built the mobile app with Flutter, used Supabase for backend storage, and orchestrated everything with XML and custom API logic.
Challenges
Our biggest challenge was synchronizing AI generation with physical NFC chips, ensuring that every object instantly reflected its linked digital memory.
Connecting several APIs while keeping the experience smooth and cohesive required precision and teamwork.
Mathematically, our system ensures:
$$ \text{AI output} = f(\text{NFC object}, \text{user input}, t) $$
where ( t ) represents the moment in time when the memory comes alive.
What We Learned
We learned how technology can make culture tangible — turning emotions, creativity, and stories into something you can actually touch.
We deepened our knowledge of cross-platform development, AI integration, and designing experiences that merge the digital and the physical worlds.
Team
We are a team of two, working side by side through every phase — brainstorming, coding, designing, and testing.
Every part of Item2Art was built collaboratively, combining our passion for technology and culture.
