Inspiration

I was inspired by the frustration of losing personal items and the inefficiency of traditional lost and found systems.

What it does

Reclaimly is a smart item matching platform that connects lost items with their finders.

How we built it

It was built it using Next.js , TypeScript, MongoDB, Clerk authentication, and uploadthing.

Challenges we ran into

I had many issues setting up proper API routes with Next.js 15's new async params, implementing secure user authentication and creating accurate matching algorithms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a fully functional matching system, implementing secure user ownership of items and building an intuitive UI with real-time updates.

What we learned

Advanced Next.js features, MongoDB schema design for complex relationships and implementing scoring algorithms for item matching.

What's next for Reclaimly

Adding image recognition for automatic item identification, push notifications for matches and expanding to campus/community networks.
