Inspiration
Inspired by the famous sketch from Tim and Eric's Awesome Show (Good Job) titled "It's not Jackie Chan". After several minutes of brainstorming and permutations, this game was the result.
What it does
This game presents a zoomed-in image for the user to navigate across to determine whether it is an unaltered picture of a celebrity or an uncanny, altered version. While navigating, the user needs to dodge obstacles and be careful as to not hit the outer bounds of the picture to prevent losing points. However, there are powerups that will increase the user's points.
How we built it
The game is primarily Devvit-based, with a React-based UI and server-side logic running inside Reddit’s app platform.
Challenges we ran into
The learning curve revolving around Devvit as a whole. I have never developed an App for this platform before. On the more abstract realm, brainstorming a new concept for a game that is also fun to play prolonged the development of the game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing the game within a few days.
What we learned
The intricacies of Devvit backend.
What's next for Delulu or Celulu
Modularizing the code and tightening up the level data. Currently, this project contains a lot of remnants that were accrued from building this project.
