Inspiration
Hunger
What it does
Dispenses food
How we built it
Our incredible minds, laser cutting, arduino circuit, servos
Challenges I ran into
Arduino coding for four buttons (that short the circuit instead of completing the circuit) with four servos
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Finding random items to use (metal hangers for the coil, random tubes in Detkin to bend the coils) and that we did it!
What I learned
Engineers don't sleep
What's next
We were hoping to also create a mechanism that allowed the vending machine to sense when a coin was dropped through the slot. To accomplish this, we would have employed a method similar to the four push buttons and would have placed two copper wires at the slot opening that the coin would brush against when sliding through. This would short the circuit in a manner similar to the pushbuttons. We would edit the code to fit the entire pushbutton/servo command inside an if statement that it would run through when the coin shorts the circuit. We also could potentially incorporate IoT by having an alarm sent to our phones when the vending machine needs to be refilled with candy.
