Inspiration
I wanted to learn how to use hardware, so I bought an Arduino starter kit before Bitcamp so I can mess around with it here. I wanted to make a project that uses motors, and the space theme was in my mind, so a diorama of the Earth was what came of it.
What it does
It spin
How we built it
I used an Arduino Uno, breadboard, LCD display, 5v LED strips, and a stepper motor
Challenges we ran into
I didn't know anything about how Arduinos work other than a little bit of the coding aspect, so I had to figure out how to wire everything and learn how to allow the program to control multiple elements at the same time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Actually getting all the parts working concurrently
What we learned
How breadboards work, how to use some of the parts/modules included in my starter kit, how to use different c++ libraries related to the Arduino, and how to simulate and draft circuits in Tinkercad
What's next for It's a Small World
Make it more interactive, such as by being able to change the speed of the earth, keeping track of how many days have passed based on the rotation of the earth, and improving the container the diorama is in so it is not recycled cardboard.
