Cash App

The Project

Our inspiration

COVID-19 is not purely a physical virus; it is also a highly infectious negative mentality. The fact of the matter is that humans are meant to live, love, and laugh. Our project applies to the latter of these three innate necessities. With Cash App, we aim to use a mobile app to convey a satirical approach to the current global situation.

What is Cash App, anyway?

The phrase ‘got the Cash App’ was popularized as a meme in Roddy Rich’s “The Box.” Our app expresses a popular meme in app form, sells merchandise playing on the materialism of popular brands, and allows for monetary conversions.

How we built it

We used Flutter and Dart to create a unique app with a polished look and feel.

A Look Back

So, what were our challenges?

Our team wanted to target an aspect of a societal roadblock with a mobile application. We ran through various options for around 4 hours, unable to come to a clear consensus, getting more and more frustrated in the process. All of a sudden, someone sang the line with the meme "got the Cash App" from Roddy Rich’s “The Box,” causing our Discord call to break out in laughter! We realized that, if times seem serious and stressful, it is vital to preserve what makes us human.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our team, consisting primarily of beginner developers and graphic designers, is proud to present our completed project. In our two previous Hackathons, our goals were overly ambitious and we were unable to completely finish our projects. We are very happy with our progress on a project that is both humorous and impactful!

Our Plans

What's next for The Cash App?

We hope to expand Cash App with more cash-related features and merchandise.
