Inspiration
to make a game that not only influences people in how they manage their own savings, but also to challenge my solo development skills and see where areas where i need to improve.
What it does
teaches people about the benefits of saving their money responsibly and carefully planning where to invest said money, and if it truly benefits them. while also being a fun and engaging way to teach these lessons
How we built it
Using Game Maker 2 game design engine and Asprite for pixel illustration and animations.
Challenges I ran into
A large amount of time management, in the limited 24 hours, I can only manage so much in a game's development. Having to plan out my moves perfectly and with enough time for each element and mechanic, I would implement them in my expected outcome of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Achieving an outcome that I am most proud of, I don't expect to win big with this game. However, the satisfaction of completing and submitting the game for others to play is enough for me to be satisfied. Also, better use of my external resources for planning and concepting my project, using pencil and paper rather than my computer, frees up my reliance on it and gives me a rest for my eyes from screens
What we learned
Having a team mate or two isn't the worst idea to have when going into a big event like Hackabury. It makes managing tasks and ideas a lot better
What's next for It Pays to Play it Safe
This game is going to be a big stepping stone in my future project and my pursuit in the gaming industry
