As international students, we face difficulty in finding suitable housing and setting up essential services. We've created an all-in-one solution to help students independently navigate the city
Inspiration: My personal experiences of stepping into the unknown as a reserved kid. I felt that I wouldn't have survived if my sister wasn't here to help me. Therefore, I had this idea for quite some time now.
What it does: It provides personalized feedback to students, helps set up essential financial and medical services, and integrates maps to make students familiar with the place.
How we built it: We've used a Python-Flask combination to create an interactive full-stack application. We store the data in Mysql. We've also used OpenAI's API to generate personalized feedback.
Challenges we ran into Setting up MySQL to update and store data in this complex project. Integrating maps and OpenAI's API into the project
Accomplishments that we're proud of: The ability to integrate user's records to generate personalized feedback with API.
What we learned: We learned that although we were familiar with programming concepts, it was a whole other experience in putting everything together in under 48 hours.
What's next for IStudent: We're going to continue building it and adding more features. Hopefully, we're going to build a consumer base as well.
