Inspiration
We were inspired by fun games like Civ. to create this isometric resource gathering, Minecraft-esque game.
How we built it
Crafted Meshes in Blender and exported them into Unreal Engine 4.
Challenges we ran into
Since we were working with Unreal Engine 4 for the first time, we encountered a variety of problems when our limited knowledge of the software was tested. Unfortunately, this made us fall short of our goals and compromises had to be made.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our procedural generation upon load of the application was a proud moment for us. We struggled getting everything right in this regard, so we were incredibly relieved to have solved that portion.
What we learned
We learned many new features and tricks in the Unreal Engine.
What's next for IsoHack
We hope to keep expanding the program to fulfil our original goals. That means, more tiles with different biomes, More resources, animations, (and the removal of Unreal's default character).
