A major issue we face is the constant need to check local mosque websites for prayer times. By doing so, our general productivity drops and our qushu suffers as a result. Our flow state is disrupted by the monotonous act of manually checking prayer times. Although apps on the market aim to resolve this issue, many present hurdles make them unappealing to consumers. Users noted that the inaccuracy of the prayer times calculated by these apps is a breaking point. Some Android users stated that notifications do not send when they are operating in “low battery mode”.Other users stated that they would prefer if the prayer notification would be sent out to all their devices. As this would make viewing prayer times more accessible during working hours or when being on your phone is not an option. Users are craving a platform that would make prayer times more accessible and less likely to be dismissed. This is the reality of living in a system that is built on the Gregorian calendar. Without athans or family reminders, the sacred window of prayer fades into the noise of this dunya.

Through our own research, we identified that a multitude of these apps are infested with ads or release notifications later than the actual athan time. Unfortunately, many are not inclusive of all Islamic sects. Completely isolating an entire market of individuals trying to improve on their Islamic journey. This is where ASRR comes in. A subscription calendar that you can import into any calendar app/interface you use. ASRR aims to bridge the gap between time slipping away and strengthening your salah. With the help of ASRR, users will be capable of tracking prayer times on their calendar and, as a result, on all their devices!

Our team delegated tasks depending on our strongest assets. Aiman and Farah completed market research on current products in the market. As well as identifying what people are seeking in order to make their journey easier. Khadijah completed the frontend development, using tools like VSCode, JuiceMind, Google Gemini, W3Schools, and Quackit. Meanwhile, Rukayat worked on the backend engineering. She built the first half of the API alongside a database where users and organizations can update their events.

In the future, we aim to implement important Islamic dates into our calendar site, as well as location- and masjid-specific events. Some of our team members are heavily active in their local mosque community; from their experience, it is evident that outreach is a massive hurdle for mosques to overcome. With the help of ASRR, masjids can enter their upcoming events into our database, and users will be notified of the upcoming events.

ASRR is for the modern Muslim who is consumed by the modern hustle culture. It’s designed as an anchor that strengthens one's Iman. With the ultimate goal of reclaiming our time from distractions and realigning our actions for the Akhira. Anchor, Strengthen, Reclaim and Realign. ASRR, reclaim your spiritual journey.
