Inspiration

We were inspired by a TikTok video which highlighted HBCU fashion. Understanding role the DMV plays as a hub for black and Africans. we decided to focus on creating a website that served to sell, educate and invest in black designers. Isiagu is a word for Igbo chieftaincy clothes. We want to make sure everyone who visits our site feels like Chief.

What it does

HBCU students are known for the highly expressionistic fashion sense. We created our website using the 3 P’s (Product: creating an e-commerce website to sell products. Podcast: sampling podcast for black creatives. We are creating way for people to speak up and express themselves. Promise: crowdfunding scholarshipsto support black designers). We intend to educate people on the rich heritage behind most black fashion trends, elevate black business by creating an online store for black designers, and crowdfund money to fund scholarships and promote black designers.

How we built it

using html css scripts and python java code we demoed different versions of how the website will function. The html and css code displays the landing page of the app The python code displays the main menu of a virtual assistant Finally Java code displays the algorithms used in matching users to the specific style. Adobe illustrator used for our icon design

Challenges we ran into

We all 3 are located in different time zones(CST PST and EST) as well as all worked on this remotely.

Time challenges(less than 24 hours) and none of us could code using a script languages such as pyscript or JavaScript. Therefore we couldn’t embed it to the front end to have a working prototype in time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

getting many different parts of the prototype working.

What we learned

how to prioritize getting as many aspects done and not to focus too much on the design. Also with more time allotted we would have spent it on a more detailed pitch deck.

What's next for ISIAGU

maybe creating a full working website with all the parts embedded
