Inspiration
The dining menu is often inaccurate, so we wanted to create an app that allows the user to vote on whether tomato bisque is in the dining hall. This way people can check whether tomato bisque is actually there. There being many squirrels across the UMass campus, we also wanted to make the familiar sight an interactive element that motivates users to participate in the community.
What it does
It allows the user to vote on whether tomato bisque is actually in the dining halls. The user can also specify what food they ate in the dining hall through a checklist and also feed their squirrel.
How we built it
We built this app using Flutter.
Challenges we ran into
We were not familiar with the platform and language we were using so it was challenging at first. In addition, we wanted to implement many different ideas.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to create something, despite being new to the platform and language we were using.
What we learned
We learned how to use Flutter and Dart, as well as how to utilize AI tools to optimize learning and efficiency.
What's next for Is There Tomato Bisque!?
We plan to continue expanding on our project by implementing more ideas and improving the UI for a better user experience. We want to make the squirrel a more interactive motivator, eating the same foods the user does in order to encourage students to eat healthy and regularly, using AI recognition of foods in order to make the experience even more personalized.
